“It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe.” – Muhammad Ali
I heard this quote long ago and it’s always been in my head. But just recently I saw it again and it made me realize how it still invokes the same emotion and thoughts into my head as it did when I first saw those words. For some reason or another usually great quotes come from random banter or talk. I can’t think of a time when something myself or my friend’s said that we use frequently was a thought that someone had come up with late at night. And a lot of times the quirky sayings and quotes come from the most unique conversations.
This quote is just another reminder to me on why I quit my job and moving to new ventures. The job in itself was tough but I really enjoyed it and was good at it as well. But over time you get over some of those things. I pretty much hit ceiling of my certain spot and was trying to promote up just a year ago. But over time the wait and grind of it all just wore on me. It was something over time that just piled and piled on my very existence of it. I had been doing my job for quite some time, but always learning new things. But as time passed it was the little things that piled up and drove me to realize that it may not be for me. Who knows 6 months from now what my tune will be, because I do miss it, miss the people. Also it is the curse that everyone that quits, comes back at least once, I want to be the one that is against the grain on that one.

So today’s weather forecast is for a high of 81 degrees. And once again its the 307th day of the year. And yes I am still North of the Equator. As much as I want to think that the world is getting better at times, there are so many things that are contrary to that belief. I mean don’t get me wrong, I am loving the weather. The ability to wear shorts now and not be freezing is a awesome thing. But then I worry about all the issues with have continuously with water supply and having a drought and poor snow pack. I also worry about the times when we get torrential downpours and the ground is not ready for it. The saturation caused by it causes so many issues and problems it is ridiculous. It causes flooding, which I am especially scared of now living downtown. Also it seems to overwhelm the drainage systems pretty quickly as well. This is usually due in part to most people not cleaning out gutters or drains until it is beyond the point of no return.
I recently read a article about how Moscow’s new leader is going to be trying to control the weather for the whole winter season. By using science and technology, hitting storms before they reach the city so that it will snow before that point. This is supposed to lead to saving money because you are not paying to have streets cleaned or maintained as well as convenience for work to happen. Also causing little effect to the economy due to a snow storm. This is a pretty herculean task to announce as well as to produce such a feat. I actually look forward to seeing how it does and how it affects the areas surrounding the city. But this is what I really expect of the world by now. To use technology and science and our learning’s to try and positively influence things for the greater good. Who knows what it will do and how it will work out, but sometimes you need that eccentric person to try it out to jolt people.
For now I will enjoy the weather and my shorts until the rain and cold weather comes. Hopefully we have a more normal weather pattern, all over the country, so that something in our world is somewhat normal.
