111509 Lazy Sunday…

So much went on yesterday. With multiple games of College Football, Pacquiao, UFC, and hot pot for dinner it was a really long tiring day. Went to be earlier then usual, 2am, fell asleep earlier then usual, 3am, woke up earlier then usual, 7am, then woke back up at 12pm. I made the executive decision today should be a lazy Sunday for everyone. So sit back, relax, watch some NFL and chill. And that is what I will do today, check back tomorrow for Random Video Monday!

111409 UFC vs. Pacquiao vs. Second Saturday, that’s a lot to do…

It’s amazing to me how on some weekends there is absolutely nothing planned to do or going on, then on some weekend’s there is a lot going on. I am actually surprised that both the UFC and Boxing committee would schedule to have their events going on the same day, although the UFC is overseas and on tape delay. I am really interested in seeing the number of people who watch both event’s as the UFC and MMA is such on a upswing. And right now boxing, in my eyes, is on a downswing and has their biggest star fighting tonight. It will also show how much power the UFC may have, especially with Pacquiao fighting in Vegas.

Honestly I am not a great fan of boxing at all. People complain that MMA is “ghey” and is a bunch of guys rolling on eachother. And you know what it is, same as wrestling. But it puts so many different fighting styles into one arena and showcases the strengths and weaknesses of the people who are fighting. It is also more of a mind game then boxing. Boxing at times is to one-dimensional and not very exciting except if someone get’s knocked out. Also the scoring on it is so judgmental I am unsure how the casual fan can understand it. Not that MMA is to much easier but it’s faster to catch on. Also the safety, short and long-term, greatly is in the favor of MMA.

They both have a lot in common with MMA taking a lot of cues from boxing. The conditioning and training of both is ridiculous at times.  MMA would not be what it is without boxing helping it along. But I think MMA is the progression of all type of martial arts and hand to hand combat. I am interested in the Pacquiao fight though. I think he is a great boxer and athlete. To do the things he has done at so many weight classes and for so many years he is very impressive. He has also literally brought a country together as I think half the Bay Area and half of Sacramento’s Filipino population is in Vegas for the fight, seriously.

So this Saturday has so much going on. I am watching UFC and hope to maybe catch Manny somewhere (ie. Internet). Second Saturday, I’m sorry, it’s a little cold out there at night nowadays. I will be dissecting some numbers from this and see the power of the prize fight versus the marketing power of the UFC. I will probably also go into the strategy of it all as well. Be safe tonight everyone, hope Manny kicks butt and UFC has some good fights.
