Today I am starting the longest road trip of my life. I will be traveling with three other people and a dog approximately a little less then 1300 miles to the East and head towards the state of Colorado. This is the first year in over 10 years where I am afforded the opportunity to not work during this week before Thanksgiving to do what I please with my time. I am going to be traveling with great friends family to visit their family in Colorado. The trip, according to the all mighty Google should take about 20 hours total, straight through. I am doing my darnedest to mentally prepare myself to be in a cramped car for that long with people I generally like, but I am sure we will tire of each other after nearly a day of close quarters. I am also trying to figure out the best way to pack as I have never experienced the colder mountain weather for extended periods of time. Cold and Aaron generally do not mix to well.

Busy day today. Trip to the bay to check out a trade show, get to meet some folks and check out some up and coming clothing brands. Also another UFC today as well, I want to watch it, should be really interesting. Also preparation for the roadtrip. Been preparing and getting ready for it. Camera all charged up and ready to rock. Got the travel friendly sized toiletries for the trip so that I can throw it away before flying back. Figured out the clothes and shoes I am wearing for the trip. Got the iPhone jailbroken to tether Internet on the road, filled with new MP3’s. Now I just got to load some digital videos on the iPh0ne and Macbook so I can watch on both of them for the trip. And here goes some more memories to fill the book of my life.

I actually don’t mind when it rains, because well we need rain and water to survive. What I hate is cold rain or wind combined with rain. The best rain I experienced was in Hawaii though. Where the temperatures are always good and it was a humid rain. Meaning I was wearing shorts and a T-Shirt during the downpour but it was actually really cool to be able to walk around. I felt like a kid again just walking in the rain like it’s nothing, not worrying about getting wet. Generally though the rain is lazy time, at least for me, unless I am at work I want to stay in and not be very productive. Not sure how the general population is but that’s me. But this is my list things to do on a cold rainy day…
- Stay under the sheets and not move, making sure to stay in all the warm spots and not hit the cold spots. Just laying and listening to the rain and the falling raindrops. It is very hypnotic and peaceful.
- Getting or making a nice warm cup of something warm to drink. When I was a kid it was all about hot cocoa. Nowadays I really go for a hazlenut soy latte if I want a warm drink. A nice warm tea is good to have also.
- Clean. Yeah I know weird, but staying in makes me want to clean and feel accomplished. It doesn’t happen to often but happens every so often.
- Eat chili or some good soup. Nothing to fancy but something about chili makes me happy. It’s one of those things I always enjoy, cheese and crumbled crackers with a hint of Tabasco, but for some reason hardly eat that often.
- Try and stay off the roads. I’ve seen some crazy accident’s happen both when the road was wet and not, so I don’t have a lot of faith of the general public driving ability.
- Wear bummy clothes. I wear beater shoes, that’s for sure. Usually some jeans, a shirt I don’t care for, a hoody and a jacket as well. Maybe a hat, but then the rain ruins the suede on the authentic new era’s though.
- Chill out inside by listening to music or throw in a movie of some type.
- Enjoy it with someone(s) that deserve to share special time with you.
Today I am headed to the coffee shop to chill out with the homies, probably head to Target to get some stuff for the trip and meet up the cousins for food tonight. Sounds like a great day to me. What’s your perfect rainy day like?
